چکیده

Purpose We aimed to compare two magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques, Dixon and spectral attenuated inversion recovery (SPAIR) fat-suppression, in terms of image quality suitability for evaluating thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) lesion characteristics. Methods This cross-sectional, retrospective study involved 70 patients with TAO (140 eyes) who underwent orbital coronal MRI examinations, including Dixon-transverse relaxation (T2)-weighted (T2WI) SPAIR-T2WI, between 2020 2022. compared the fat-suppression artifacts, noise (N), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise (CNR), signal intensity (SIR) extraocular muscles (SIR-EOM) lacrimal glands (SIR-LG), activity evaluation efficiency. Results Dixon-T2WI showed a higher frequency better subjective characteristics lesions (65.7% vs. 14.3%) than SPAIR-T2WI. Fat-suppression artifact scores were lower SPAIR-T2WI ( p < 0.001). The N, SNR, CNR values, EOM-SIR, LG-SIR (all Clinical (CASs) positive correlations SIR. correlation EOM-SIR CAS was that (0.590 0.493, all 0.001; 0.340 0.295, 0.01). yielded area under curve (0.865 0.760, 0.695 0.617, = 0.017). Conclusion yields Furthermore, it has stronger ability evaluate inflammation SPAIR, sensitivity specificity active staging.

Fat-suppression techniques for 3-T MR imaging of the musculoskeletal system.

Fat suppression is an important technique in musculoskeletal imaging to improve the visibility of bone-marrow lesions; evaluate fat in soft-tissue masses; optimize the contrast-to-noise ratio in magnetic resonance (MR) arthrography; better define lesions after administration of contrast material; and avoid chemical shift artifacts, primarily at 3-T MR imaging. High-field-strength (eg, 3-T) MR i...

Study of Coincidence of Hoffa’s Fat Pad Associated Injuries in Knee Traumas in Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Background and Objective: Hoffa’s fat pad injuries are often caused by acute direct and indirect trauma and chronic recurrent micro-trauma, and its disorders are associated with other traumas and injuries that have been less paid attention to in radiological studies. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the injuries associated with Hoffa’s fat pad injury in knee trauma using the diag...

Fat suppression for coronary MR angiography at 3T: 2 point Dixon versus Spectral Presaturation with Inversion Recovery (SPIR)

Background The coronary arteries are embedded in epicardial fat. To improve visualization in coronary MR angiography (CMRA) fat suppression techniques such as Spectral Presaturation with Inversion Recovery (SPIR) are often employed. Recently, water-fat separation using the multiecho 2 point Dixon method has gained increasing interest as it allows decomposing the MR signal into a water and fat i...

Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery magnetic resonance imaging detects cortical and juxtacortical multiple sclerosis lesions.

BACKGROUND Autopsy studies showed cortical and juxtacortical multiple sclerosis (MS) plaques. Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) is an advanced magnetic resonance imaging sequence that reveals tissue T2 prolongation with cerebrospinal fluid suppression, allowing detection of superficial brain lesions. OBJECTIVES To assess FLAIR, T1-weighted, and T2-weighted images for detecting lesio...
